Worker Rehabilitation

LCP Health co-ordinates and works in collaboration with you the employer, physician, and if applicable, the case manager and union to design an individualized program and where ever possible programs are provided at the job-site. Care is given to consider the unique characteristics of each worker and their work environment to ensure a lasting solution to get your employees safety and quickly back to work.

Essential Job Function Analysis (also known as physical demands analysis)

Objective measurements of the physical, environmental and cognitive demands of specific and essential job tasks of the target position. Analysis of the demands of the job position results in recommendations for injury prevention and can be used to assist in finding suitable accommodation for injured workers.

"LCP assisted Nunavut Power with matching the job to the worker and not the worker to the job. Through the completion of Physical Demands Analysis we were better able to identify job tasks and set priorities for replacement or updating of procedures to prevent on the job injuries.

We are also able to use the Functional Capacity Evaluations to accommodate injured workers in returning to work with a much smoother transition. They were more than ready to answer questions as we entered into the project and at different steps along the way. Their ability to adapt to the different work environment was a true asset in this project."

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

The FCE is the cornerstone of a worker's rehabilitation plan. An FCE provides the assessment of the worker's physical capability to perform the specific job demands of the pre-injury or target occupation. The comparisons are made for strength, mobility, agility, and dexterity and measurements are provided in weight, frequency, and force.

LCP Health is the only company certified to conduct Functional Capacity Evaluations in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Functional Restoration Program

Functional restoration programs provide a transition between acute care and return to work while addressing the issue of productivity, safety, physical tolerances and work behaviours. Programs use conditioning tasks that are graded to progressively improve the function of the individual in conjunction with real or simulated work activities. Programs are typically daily for 4 weeks duration.

“I believe 100% that if anyone needs rehabilitation after a surgical procedure, the program at LCP Health is the way to go to get your life back. Through this concise functional restoration program your life will become more fulfilling and more complete.

I am a Nursing Assistant so it was imperative that I had the same amount of strength and stability on both legs; I sincerely thank my therapists and all the support I was given to attain my goals. This program not only built my strength, stamina and stability but contributed to my successful return to the workforce.”

Nursing Assistant

"I attended LCP for functional restoration after a work place injury and surgery. The staff were knowledgable, friendly and supportive. They worked on everything from mental health and thinking to my direct injury and full body health improving my strengths and abilities. I would recommend this to any employer to aid in getting their staff back to working abilities. It was a great experience that enabled me to return back to my regular duties."

Duty to Accommodate/Return To Work

Facilitation of RTW and duty to accommodate can be multi-faceted and complex; therefore can benefit from a third party to provide objective measureable modifications at the worksite. Modifications may include work tasks and/or hours to facilitate gradual return to the target job as well as advice regarding medical and psychiatric symptom control and body mechanics.

Work Simulation Standard Testing

Work Simulation Standard testing provides a key component in the safety of both employees and public. Testing establishes the worker's base-line physical abilities to do the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Additionally beneficial to both the applicant and employer, testing provides an opportunity to instruct in proper body mechanics, postures and injury prevention strategies.
